Concrete shell computation with determination of rheological properties of concrete

Jure Radnić, Domagoj Matešan

Abstract

The model and software for the computation of concrete slabs and shells exposed to a prolonged static load is presented. The material and geometrical nonlinearity is simulated. The following features are modeled: creep, shrinkage and aging of concrete, concrete flow under pressure, opening and closing of cracks subjected to tensile stress, and tensile and shear stiffness of cracked concrete. The nonlinear behavior of steel reinforcement is also modeled. The example shown illustrates the accuracy and some possible uses of the VALJ model and computational software.
