A new model for stochastic analysis of bridge durability

Goran Puž, Jure Radić, Irina Stipanović Oslaković

Abstract

The ageing process is analyzed, and a bridge maintenance planning model is described. The bridge condition checking procedures, and the existing models for estimating advancement of ageing process, are presented as basis for making proper structural management decisions. The analysis of existing procedures has resulted in the definition of main features of a mathematical model, based on Markov processes, that is used for defining the ageing process of reinforced-concrete bridges. The applicability of the model is shown on the concrete example of Šibenik bridge.
